Hank Wangford and Brad Breath in concert at ESSC

  • Wokingham Music Club at ESSC Lowther Rd Wokingham United Kingdom (map)

This show has been cancelled

Hank Wangford and Brad Breath offer an evening of stories from the highway of life and a clutch of original heartbreakers, toetappers and gems culled from the dark underbelly of Country. Laughter and pain are both sides of the same tear stained coin.

Hank Wangford godfather of British Country music over 3 decades was indoctrinated by Gram Parsons in 1970. He has lassoed the hearts and minds of his public in songs, TV series and books.

His new compadre yodelling Brad Breath is celebrated for his classic Glimpses of Gloom and his mastery of the guitar and mandolin. As Andy Roberts, Brad has played with The Scaffold, Bonzo Dog, Plainsong, Billy Connolly, Pink Floyd and many others.

Hank has just finished his new CD Holey Holey – his troublesome tenth album – and will release it very soon in the spring of 2020. He and Brad will perform several songs from the new album as well as old favourites.

“An emotional rollercoaster ride.  From honkytonkin’ heartbroken songs of 1950s and ‘60s rural America via the 1984 British miner’s strike, right up to the present day.  Beautifully crafted original songs full of class, wit and poignant observations.  We laughed and cried – sometimes at the same time – it’s a privilege to be present on nights like these.” Mike Leigh

“A must see and must hear for any fan of Country music and if you’re not a fan you’ll soon convert.  The music is beautiful, the stories funny and they have great taste in cowboy gear.”  Carn to Cove, Cornwall

"If you want originality, something that still has the bite and twang that drained out of so much country, the sharp cutting wit and the rawness of hard country, then there is only one man to see.  His name is Hank Wangford."  New York Times
